Trek to Siddarabetta Mountain

Bored of long weekdays at office? Thinking of going for a One day Outing somewhere near Bangalore which is somewhat far away from usual hustling and bustling Bangalore town? How about climbing a  small Mountain which is so much climber friendly, which can be conquered by anyone who just wants to have some fun and also wants to spend some valuable time with nature instead of a day out at some Commercial Mall or Multiplex. If this seems like an interesting aspect, what better place to consider than the famous Siddarabetta Mountain near Madhugiri Taluk, Tumkur district.
A View from Beautiful Siddarabetta

Time for a small Imagination :)

Imagine a small mountain which has steps carved from the base to the peak of the Mountain, the entire path having a canopy of broad and huge trees, neatly placed benches at all pit stop points, a casual walk for almost a hour or so from base to the peak, cold water from a natural Spring gushing out from the top of the hill, waiting for you to arrive and take a divine bath at the peak, a mysterious Caves calling you to Explore and the much needed place for a un-interrupted meditation for any amount of time and finally hot and tasty lunch at the Base of the Mountain. Doesn't this seem good for a One day Trekking or Excursion or Trip or Picnic whatever you want to call? These are highly what you can expect when you go to the Rocky Hill, Siddarabetta.

What's Special About this Place???

This is a Rocky hill and a naturally beautiful place. This place is mainly known for the Temple, the Cave Explosion and the medicinal Plants. Inside the Caves there is a holy shrine of Lord Rudra. The name Siddarabetta suggests that it's the home of many Hindu Saints who used to perform sacred meditation and to achieve something great in life which is nothing but Nirvana. Even though there are not many saints left here, there are few who does the chanting in the ashram which is at the Base of the Hill. This Hill is also famous for its Medicinal Herbs. The natural springs have several medicinal qualities and drinking it is the cure for many diseases. The main attraction of Siddarabetta is the Cave exploration part which takes around one and half hours, which is one of those experiences which we can never forget in life. The duels with friendly Monkeys of Siddarabetta is unique and fun in its own way.

How to Reach This Place???

There are always different ways to reach a destination. Here I am providing details of the best possible route for your Travel.
By Bus: Reach Tumkur Bus Stand. Take a Private Bus to Siddarabetta.
By own transport: Reach Tumkur, take the Bypass towards Pune road. Take a deviation towards Madhugiri, from the ring road. Just after 2 KMs, we can see a Petrol Bunk to the left and take a left turn near the Petrol Bunk. That road is the Chikkatotli Kere road and a 40 minute drive will take you to Jonigarahalli. Take a right at this juncture and just after half a KM, take a left deviation. That road will lead us directly to the base of Siddarabetta.

Breakfast, Lunch etc...

If you are travelling by Bus, it always better to have some breakfast in Tumkur. If you are travelling by your own transport, don't forget to have a delicious Idli and Vada in Kyaatsandra Village which comes just 5 KMs before Tumkur.
For Lunch, you can have the daasoha(a public service of providing food to the people) arranged by the villagers and other donors. If in case you need anything else, there are lot of restaurants available in Tumkur Bangalore Highway.

Overall Experience

I have been to this Mountain in-numerous number of times and never ever I have got bored of this small, beautiful mountain. I have almost taken all my friends to this mountain and not even a single friend of mine gave any negative impression about this Rocky Mountain. The Cave exploration will make a permanent mark in our memory and the views that we get from the top are just mesmerizing. The natural Springs are added bonus at the peak which will completely makes us forget about the tiredness that caught us during the ascent. A beautiful place for One day small Trek for all adventure seekers and a nice relaxing spot for all others. What are you thinking still? Call up your friends and go and enjoy this tiny Rocky Mountain. Happy and Safe Trekking.
